3D Printed Pet Accessories: Tags, Bowls and Bird Feeders
3D printed accessories for pets: custom ID tags, raised bowl stands, slow feeders, bird feeders, hamster hideouts and treat puzzles. Which plastics are safe for animals.

Pet shops sell the same three bowl sizes and the same five tag shapes to everyone. Your pet is not average: the cat that flips the bowl, the dachshund with the long back, the parrot that chews everything. 3D printing makes accessories to fit the animal and the home. Here is what we make, what it is made from and how to keep it safe for your pet.
ID tags and collar accessories
- Name tags in any shape (bone, fish, paw, a silhouette of the breed), with the name raised and a phone number on the back.
- Collar sliders with the name, which do not jingle at night.
- Leash hooks and lead holders for the hallway, shaped like a paw or a bone.
- Harness clips and bag dispensers for the walk.
Tags are printed in PETG or resin and can be painted; for a tag that is worn daily we recommend rounded edges and a thickness of at least 3 mm so it does not snap. A tag makes a lovely small gift, and we cover more ideas in 3D printed gifts for cat owners.
Bowls, stands and feeders
The bowl itself is usually best in ceramic or stainless steel, since those are easy to sterilise. What printing does brilliantly is everything around the bowl.
| Item | What it solves |
|---|---|
| Raised bowl stand | Correct height for large dogs and older cats, sized to your bowls |
| Anti-tip ring | Stops the enthusiastic eater pushing the bowl across the floor |
| Slow feeder insert | Maze or ridges that slow a dog who inhales food |
| Lick mat holder | Keeps a silicone mat still |
| Food scoop | Measured to your pet's portion |
| Bag clip and container lid | Keeps dry food fresh |
| Automatic feeder brackets | Mounts or adapters for an existing dispenser |
For anything the animal eats from, we use PETG, which is more heat tolerant and easier to clean than PLA, print with thick walls and no gaps, and sand it smooth. Hand-washing is the rule, exactly as with human food items, explained in Is PLA food safe?.
Bird feeders and wildlife
Bird feeders are a favourite print: a window feeder with a suction cup, a hanging seed tube with printed perches, a squirrel-resistant cage, a hummingbird-style nectar feeder. They live outdoors, so we print them in PETG or ASA, which survive sun and rain far better than PLA, as explained in can 3D prints live outdoors?. Drainage holes and a roof are built in so seed does not go mouldy.
Small animals and reptiles
- Hamster and gerbil hideouts, tunnels and stairs, sized to your enclosure.
- Hay racks and food hoppers for rabbits and guinea pigs.
- Reptile hides and basking platforms, printed in heat-tolerant material and kept away from the heat lamp.
- Aquarium parts: caves, filter guards, plant holders, feeding rings. Only inert plastics go in water; PETG is the usual choice.
- Cage clips and bowl holders that fit the exact wire spacing of your cage.
Chewers are the challenge. Rabbits, rodents and parrots will gnaw plastic, so for those animals printed items go where teeth cannot reach, or are treated as replaceable.
Toys and enrichment
Treat puzzles, snuffle mat frames, cat wand handles, ball launchers, a cat tunnel connector, a bell-holder for a kitten. Cats also love a printed "toy on a spring" that is impossible to kill. For dogs, printed toys should be large enough not to be swallowed and made of TPU, which is flexible and safe to bite. Fantasy Lab 3D will suggest sizes based on the breed.
Safety checklist
- No small parts that can be chewed off and swallowed.
- Rounded, sanded edges everywhere.
- PETG or TPU for anything that touches food or mouths, no painted surfaces there.
- Outdoor items in PETG or ASA.
- Wash by hand, inspect for wear and replace when chewed.
How ordering works
Send a photo of your pet with the bowl, cage or collar and a couple of measurements. Small items print within a day; a raised feeder or a big bird house takes longer. The price depends on the size, material and finish, so request a quote.
