Custom 3D Printed Keychains in Bulk: Merch for Brands and Events

A keychain is the cheapest object a person will carry every day, which is exactly why brands hand them out. 3D printing turns a logo into a physical, multi-colour keychain without the tooling costs of injection moulding, and a batch of fifty or five hundred can be ready in days. This guide explains what kinds of keychains print well, how bulk orders are produced and what Fantasy Lab 3D needs from you to start.

Who orders keychains in bulk

  • Companies and startups: logo keychains for onboarding kits, trade shows and client gifts
  • Event organisers: conference badges, festival tokens, hackathon and tournament souvenirs
  • Cafés, barbershops, gyms and studios: branded keychains sold at the counter or given with loyalty cards
  • Schools, universities and clubs: graduation, sports team and student society merch
  • Wedding and birthday hosts: personalised favours with names or dates
  • Artists and streamers: fan merch with a mascot or catchphrase

If your logo can be drawn in flat colours, it can almost certainly become a keychain.

Designs that work well

The best keychains are simple, flat and readable at a glance. A few reliable formats:

FormatDescriptionBest for
Flat logo tagLogo raised or recessed on a shaped plateCompanies, cafés, clubs
Text keychainA name, word or hashtag as standalone lettersEvents, personalised favours
SilhouetteOutline of a product, building, animal or mascotTourism, brands with a mascot
Multi-colour badgeTwo to four colours printed in one pieceSports teams, festivals
FunctionalBottle opener, cart coin, cable tidy or mini tool with a logoPractical corporate gifts

Typical size is 30 to 60 mm on the longest side and 3 to 5 mm thick. Fine text should be at least 4 mm tall to stay readable. Each keychain gets a reinforced hole for a ring, and we supply split rings or lobster clasps if you want them ready to use.

Colours: single, multi and painted

Single-colour keychains are the fastest and cheapest. For logos in two or more colours, we have three options:

  1. Multi-colour printing in one piece, where the printer swaps filaments automatically so the colours are embedded in the plastic and never wear off. See how multi-colour printing works.
  2. Two-part designs where a coloured inlay clicks into a base.
  3. Painting or filling recessed letters by hand, which suits small runs with unusual colours.

Matte PLA looks the most like a finished product; silk filaments add shine for premium giveaways. Exact brand colours can usually be matched closely from the filament range, and we will send a photo of a sample before running the batch.

Materials for something that lives on keys

Keys are a harsh environment: pockets, bags, drops and the occasional bite from a dog. Standard PLA is fine for most promotional keychains, and it prints the crispest details. For pieces that need to last years, PETG is tougher and less brittle, and TPU (a flexible rubber-like plastic) makes bendy keychains that simply cannot snap. Material choice affects the quote, so tell us how long the keychain should survive.

How bulk batches are produced

A single keychain takes minutes to print, but a batch is about efficiency. We tile as many pieces as fit on a print bed and run them together, then repeat. A few practical points:

  • Small runs (10 to 50) usually ship within a few days.
  • Medium runs (50 to 300) take about a week depending on colours and complexity.
  • Larger runs are scheduled in advance, and we recommend approving a sample first.
  • Every piece is inspected and ring holes are checked before packing.

Because there is no mould, there is no minimum order and no setup fee for the design itself; changing the text on every keychain (for names or numbers) costs little extra. More on that in is there a minimum order for 3D printing. For hundreds of identical parts, read how small-batch manufacturing compares to moulding.

What to send for a quote

To quote a bulk keychain order, Fantasy Lab 3D needs:

  • Your logo as a vector file (SVG, PDF or AI) or a clean high-resolution PNG
  • The quantity, or a range if you are still deciding
  • Preferred size and colours
  • Whether you need rings, clasps, packaging or individual bags
  • Your deadline and delivery city (we deliver across Kazakhstan and ship internationally)

If you have no design yet, describe the idea and we will model a keychain and send you a render before printing anything. The price per piece depends on size, colour count, material and quantity, and larger batches are cheaper per unit.
